Forever Young, Forever Obsessed With This DIY

Putting your own style into your dorm room is one of the most unique aspects of college life. But who says having a chic room has to come at a high price? This DIY is virtually FREE and adds a unique, expressive feature to your room that will keep you feeling inspired!

MATERIALS

  • Magazines and/or catalogues

  • Printed letters to use as stencils

  • Scissors

  • Tape

First things first: come up with a word or phrase you love or want to use as a daily reminder, like Carpe Diem, Forever Young, or Enjoy the Little Things.

Next, gather up old magazines and catalogues you don’t mind ripping out some pages. We used catalogues from Free People, Urban Outfitters and J. Crew and a Nylon magazine to get the images.

As stencils, print out the letters of your word or phrase in whatever font you choose. Be funky or be classic. We suggest a font that is bold enough so you’ll be able to see more of the image after you cut it out. For example, the font we used was Gill Sans MT – Bold.

To add a little something extra, use the letters you printed out too! After all the tracing and cutting, we used them behind the magazine cutouts, layering them in a interesting offset way. You can even mix up the direction for a compelling movement.

And wah-la! All there is to do it tape your inspiration creation to the wall!
