Winter Break As Told By New Girl
Walking out of your last final is the biggest relief all semester.
It means Winter Break.
First night home, you’re totally pumped to be back in a room you don’t have to share,
Your love/hate relationship with your siblings is in full swing again,
And of course
But then the enthusiasm wears off and your fam is still gushing over your homecoming
And they encourage you to do something other than binge watch Netflix.
But when you do try to get out of the house, you can’t seem to escape the herds of high schoolers appearing everywhere.
So to find some normalcy, you go catch up with home friends
Everyone starts spilling about what happened to them this semester and you’re all
While most of your friendships pick up right where they left off,
Sometimes you’ve naturally grown apart and it’s painfully awkward.
New Year’s Eve rolls around and you get the details for a friend of a friend’s house party (Because who isn’t down for a TBT Basement Party?)
You see that college looks good on that kid from your senior AP English class
But then you still don’t have anyone to kiss at midnight.
The next few days it hits you just how much longer you have to wait until you’re back on campus
And the only thing getting you through it is home-cooked meals
When it’s time to pack up, you make a list of goals for the semester. Totally Doable.
And finally: Goodbye Hometown, Hello Syllabus Week!
